Tamarindo, Guanacaste is the north-western most province of Costa Rica. Popular for its many surf breaks, eco-tourism, varying family activities and nightlife. Tamarindo is easily accessible from its closest international airport, Daniel Oduber Quiros International Aiport (airport code: LIR), which is about one hour away. It can be a little more pricey to fly into Liberia, but the convenience can be worth it. Juan Santamaría International Airport (airport code: SJO) in Costa Rica’s capital, San Jose is about four hours away, but a variety of shuttle options are available as well as a few domestic flight options. Domestic flights fly into Tamarindo’s airport, about 10 min. outside of Tamarindo.
Activities in Tamarindo include estuary tours, ATV tours, sport fishing, surfing lessons, bike rentals and tours, zipline/canopy tours, horseback riding, turtle tours, as well as day trips to Arenal. Keep in mind, you are not limited to these tours specifically. For those wanting to relax and stay in town, shops are abundant. Shopping ranges from locally and custom made jewelry, custom made bathing suits and clothing, surf shops, wooden crafts, ceramics and much much more.
