Planning your wedding has come to an end, now you are in the days leading up to your wedding day.  In these days you’ll be organizing all the paper work you need, remembering your wedding rings and getting the accessories together for your big day.  Oh, and packing!  We know you want to bring your entire closet plus, but will you really need it all?  We have some helpful tidbits to assist you in your packing.  As the bride and groom, we don’t expect you to fit all into a carry on, but it should help in narrowing down what to bring, and if you can’t use it, then maybe your guests can.  🙂

Try on everything before you pack anything.  If it doesn’t fit or make you feel fantastic, don’t pack it.

If you’re bringing those heals make sure that they work with multiple outfits.  Avoid bring a pair of shoes that only work with that one dress, leave more room for souvenirs.

What to pack for a 10 day trip, and make it fit into a carry on (or checked suitcase):

  • Four pairs of shorts/skirts
  • One pair of casual pants or jeans (wear these on the airplane, they are always so cold)
  • Sleepwear
  • Three bathing suits (you’ll be living in these, so maybe 4 😉 )
  • One sarong
  • One lightweight sweater (mostly for the airplane, but you may want it at night)
  • Four dresses
  • 10 casual shirts/dress shirts
  • Handbag
  • 2-3 Pairs of shoes (think sandals, sneakers, and a pair of wedges, most places are not super heal friendly in CR)
  • Toiletries
  • Accessories

You should wear the sneakers, as well as jeans and the sweater on your travel days, we all know those airports and airplanes are freezing.  Then upon arrival, you can change.

This is how to pack:

  • Roll up all your clothing tightly and set it aside
  • Shoes should be packed around the sides of the suitcase
  • Softer clothing that is rolled up, goes on top
  • Harder clothing rolled up is stacked on the bottom
  • Toiletries on top (or I recommend just keeping them in your purse, its a long trip and who knows when you may want easy access to them)
  • Anything that is wrinkle-resistant can go around the edges

Even if you don’t decide to use the list of what to pack, note that by rolling your clothes verses folding them, you can pack more.

As for the most important outfit of the 10 days, the wedding dress (or suit for the groom), definitely take it as a carry on, this is one item you don’t want to risk getting lost!
